We took the opportunity to visit Santorini as we were spending 1+ weeks in Crete. After hearing and reading so much about the beauty of Santorini, we were excited to actually see at least a part of the island. Unfortunately, even in late September, the island was very very crowded. And, as we only planned this one-day trip that included visiting the 2 main cities in Santorini, we basically were swept through both cities by the crowds. The tour guide was very good (a local women) who shared interesting information at what I considered a good level - not too much, not too little. Like many of these tours, it was enough to get a small taste of the place but it was hard to enjoy our visit as we felt a bit like cattle being herded through the cities. I might suggest just paying to get to the island and then spend 2 days to better experience the place as it is certainly beautiful with great views and a range of environments.

On the positive side, the guide recommended the restaurant for our lunch (not included in the price) and it was delicious.
Crowded and expensive but beautiful

1. This is expensive for what you get: a ferry ride to Santorini, then a bus ride to Oia (where the blue domes are) and Fierra. You do get some time to explore. You can choose option of seeing volcano for an extra fee.
2. The communication is bad. You will get a ticket with a thousand other people with a number on it. (No one says that) That number is your bus number. Everyone on that ferry is getting on a tour bus.
3. The ferry has food on it. The ferry ride is about 2.5 hours each way. You have an assigned seat on your ticket but you are free to move around.
4. If you want to do the volcano tour it’s a separate $20 a person. You can only purchase this while you’re on the ferry. They will announce it about 1/2 way through ferry ride.
5. Ferry does Not have wifi and only takes cash unless it is close to the island where they can electronically take card payment.

My impression all in all was it was very expensive. The ferry ride individually isn’t that expensive. You could probably not pay for the tour and book a ferry and a guide for a better price. You are crammed into a ferry in both directions like a herd of cattle. And people take forever to move. **See picture of crowd into ferry)**I am recommending visiting Santorini but that too was very crowded, but to me, worth the visit. (It doesn’t help I went during prime season)
