About this activity

Starting early, heading west and after a short breakfast stop near Rethymnon, driving past Chania, we reach the port of Kissamos. Here we take our boat for approximately a one hour pleasant sail along the coastline. Arriving in the port of the ex-pirate island of Gramvousa we hear how, during the Turkish occupation, the residents of the island started looting passing boats thus giving the island its pirate reputation. It is a protected biotope and is host to more than 400 plant species and over 100 birds species. Don’t miss out on a visit to the Venetian castle on top of a steep rock as this is one of the most impressive castles in Greece. There is plenty of time for swimming or lunch on board. Our boat then departs for the Blue Lagoon of Balos, a shallow and warm water lagoon which brings to mind similar lagoons in the Caribbean. Here the crystal clear, azure coloured sea water in combination with the white sand makes this place unique.

Bellissima esperienza

È stata DAVVERO una bellissima esperienza. Intanto siamo stati davvero molto fortunati perché nonostante abbiamo prenotato la sera prima, abbiamo subito avuto risposta da parte dell' agenzia e quindi siamo riusciti a partire l'indomani. La mattina si parte abbastanza presto, ovviamente parlo anche in base al punto in cui siamo partiti noi (chersonisson) e il viaggio è abbastanza lungo, cioè 4 ore per arrivare al porto e prendere il battello per ragfiungere la laguna di balos e l isola di gramvousa. La nostra prenotazione comprendeva sia il viaggio di andata e ritorno con il bus, sia i biglietti per il battello, la tassa comunale e anche il pranzo (molto buono) Durante il viaggio la guida Irina è stata fantastica, ci ha spiegato la storia dell' isola e ci ha dato vari consigli su cose interessanti da vedere e nonostante al momenti della prenotazione la guida era in lingua Inglese, lei comunque ci ha spiegato tutto in italiano, anche perfetto direi! Quindi che dire ...consiglio davvero di prenotare con loro e vivere questa bellissima esperienza!

Lange Fahrt aber wunderschön

Der Ausflug war sehr schön und für mich perfekt geeignet, da ich weit vom Ziel entfernt, ohne Führerschein, im Hotel war. Von dem Stop bei Rethymno hatte ich mir zwar mehr erhofft, aber der Aufenthalt in der Lagune und auf der Insel war wunderschön. Auch das Essen auf dem Schiff war okay. Allerdings ist es mir knapp 17 Stunden ein wirklich langer Tag gewesen.

beautiful but very long day

the beach and the lagoon were very beautiful but the road to get to the harbor where the boat departs was very long. we had to come from sisi, to make it to the harbor it was a 5 hour bus drive. so if you are planning this trip know that it might take a long time to get to the harbor. it was also very busy on the boat and on the beaches so keep that in mind as well.
